The 2020 MET Gala Theme Has Just Been Announced

The announce we all look forward to at the end of the year, besides it being close to tax return time, is the release of the theme for Fashions Biggest night, the MET Gala. The MET and Vogue have announce the theme of the coming event as “About Time: Fashion and Duration.” The inspiration behind the theme is to push the attendees, and all watching participants, to dig a little deeper than the surface and really dissect how dramatically Fashion has evolved and developed over the years.

Making a milestone of an event for the collaborators involved, the even should turn out as more interesting as ever. “It not only reflects and represents the spirit of the times, but it also changes and develops with the times,” The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute curator Andrew Bolton said in an interview with The New York Times. In the interview he also gave further depth on inspiration of the event, revealing that the exhibit and theme was immensely influenced by the art of Virginia Woolf and opinions of French philosopher Henri Bergson during the 20th-century.

Decor of the event has already been said to include historic clocks, which one will greet the guest upon arrival, accompanied by excerpts from Woolf inscribed on the walls. This years co-chairs will include Nicolas Ghesquière, Meryl Streep, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Anna Wintour. The annual event will take place on its legendary day, the first Monday of May which will be next year May 7, 2020.
