Virgil Abloh Hosted A Dinner In The Parking Garage of The MCA Museum Ahead of Exhibition


Virgil Abloh has become more than just a designer of the millennial generation, but somewhat a connoisseur of culture, art, and design. Fueling them together as an Architect curating an unique vibe, which is exactly the tone of the opening event to launch his MCA Chicago Exhibition. Saturday evening creatives, investors, and artists of all walks joined together to celebrate the achievement of Abloh.

The exhibition, named Virgil Abloh: Figures of Speech, has been a three year project in the making. The event began with guest making the entrance in a distinctive manner. Through the loading dock of the museum, the guest of the evening were greeted by servers with detailed cocktails and light hor d’oeuvres. The different entrance suited the celebration at hand perfectly as Abloh showcased his admiration for labels. Upon entry the guest were welcomed with mini with black tags that noted “Tourist” or “Purist” on them. The guest then took a lift finished with decadent chandeliers to deck on the second floor greeted with another cocktail reception including delicate pieces of truffle pizza and pesto-doused olive. Following the reception was a tour of the fourth floor, which is where the exhibit was on display, putting the cherry on top of the evening.

“From this day forward, museums are a different place,” said Virgil Abloh in front of his guest. A true statement given the representation of his exhibit.
